About the artist:

Tobias Everke is a German-born, NYC-based photographer whose work often lives at the intersection of journalism, portraiture and art.

He has a storied career as a photojournalist, working for some of Germany's biggest newspapers as well as editorial and corporate clients including AD, Vogue, Lufthansa, and Mercedes-Benz. As a photographer, he focuses on storytelling through observation and capturing the essence of personalities. Through countless assignments for several European publications, Tobias captured all facets of the American sphere, especially in a time of increasing polarization.

His art practice is heavily influenced by the pop art of Andy Warhol and David Hockney. In the early 2010s, when the photography world was revolutionized by the iPhone and the proliferation of high quality cameras in the average consumer’s hands, Tobias leaned into this evolution, emphasizing the importance of capturing the “every day” in photographic art. Silver Can is part of his Flat Sodas series, which pays homage to Andy Warhol's soup cans and a fixation with daily consumer products.
